If you open the Play Store on your mobile phone, you will discover that there are thousands of apps created by different people for different purposes. These apps have been helpful to you and me; technology keeps advancing and thus making life easier for society. Many apps serve financial purposes, through which millionaires have emerged. Social media apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Discord, Telegram, and lots more have helped people socialize and do business together. Recently, I heard of the Money Manager app, an app to help manage your money. That's interesting, and there are still other interesting apps out there.

Today, the Hive Learners community, through their contest, has challenged us to go creative and think of an app to create without worrying about resources. Well, I had a deeper thought over an app I could create that would be beneficial to people and finally came up with a diagnostic app. I really do not know if my imagination can become reality, but that is what I can think about for now.

Why this particular app?

Over time, you see people practicing self-medication, treating themselves of illness blindly without knowing the actual sickness they are treating. This is because some people cannot afford the cost of a laboratory test, and so whenever they become sick, based on the symptoms they experienced before, they will assume that the same particular sickness is what it is, hence the self-medication. The cost of medical care nowadays is getting higher each day with the present economy, and many people don't even give their health attention until it gets severe.

Here in my country, Nigeria, using my community as an example, you will hardly see people undergoing lab tests prior to treatment. Any single fever they experience will be tagged malaria parasite, and boom, they will get malaria drugs and commence treatment. It becomes a matter of guesswork; we keep assuming and gambling with our health, and this has led to drug abuse most of the time. I am sure that if the people concerned get a free medical diagnosis prior to treatment, they will embrace it with full hands. The cost of diagnosis is a big reason through my observations on why some people do not visit the hospital when they are sick because they know that the doctor will request a laboratory test prior to treatment.

Some of these medical diagnoses are affordable, depending on what you are diagnosing, while others are extremely expensive. In July 2021, my first son underwent an MRI diagnosis (an MRI of the brain). This diagnosis cost us $150 dollars. It was so expensive that I was supposed to do another one this year, but due to the cost, I haven't been able to do so. Now imagine creating a diagnostic app where details of the patient and other vital health information will be keyed into the app, resulting in reliable results. That will be interesting. With this, we have saved a lot of money, time, and energy, but spent just on data. Isn't this amazing? Of course I think it is!
