We are in that season where many people wants to celebrate in grand style no matter what it will cost them. Some over stretch themselves just to belong, some even go as far as closing their long term savings just to celebrate Christmas beyond their capacity or to make their village people notice their arrival. I have seen some young guys rent a clean car, travel with the car for Christmas just to entice girls and probably get married to anyone of them faking what he doesn't have thereby starting a relationship on a false foundation and definitely it won't end well.

Just last year during Christmas season like this , a family friend wanted to travel home for Christmas celebration but he didn't have enough resources to do so, instead of him to replan to avoid issues at the end, he went ahead to use a huge amount of money to repair his long time spoiled car just to travel with it, and I told the wife, why not use public transport instead spending close to 1m just to fix this car at the eleventh hour, the wife said that she had told him several times all to no avail, the man didn't even consider his children school fees come January after the Christmas celebration, he was only interested in traveling with his car to please his parents and his villagers and his comfort too at the detriment of his family. It was 24th December and he left for the travel, after like 5hours journey on the road, the car broke down again, he became stranded, he still have like more 6hours before getting to his village. At this point, he ordered for a toying van which carried the car back to Lagos @150k, hmmmm he couldn't travel again, all the money he has saved was spent on the unused car. He finally celebrated the Christmas in Lagos with his family but then, January came, it was time for the kids to go back to school but he couldn't pay the fees, the car was more important to him then, he wished he listened to the wife and travel by road, he would have had extra money to pay for his children school fees. At the end, the school didn't allow his kids without the fees and so they missed that session because of money caused by their dad's unplanned act.

It's no doubt that Christmas is a season of joy, love, celebrations etc, however, it's not advisable to steal just to celebrate in a bigger way or to close your account. If your capacity is to purchase just one life chicken, buy it and celebrate in love with your family, you don't need to borrow money inorder to buy 5 chickens for you to celebrate, if your capacity is to travel by road, let it be, you don't need to borrow inorder to travel by air, if your capacity is to buy one pack of malt, please do, don't borrow to buy a very costly wine just to belong etc.

Be content with what you have, if you don't have enough resources to celebrate large this year, work hard and pray to be better next year. You are not on any competition with anyone on how large your Christmas should be celebrated. Be wise!

Thank you so much for reading through.

Remember to always be positive and be happy 馃槉鉂o笍馃挄
