Trees are a long time favourite subject of mine. Often, I see faces and figures in trees, among other things. This series is about some of the expressive faces that trees have greeted me with. The first three photos are of the same tree; the third was shot from the opposite side of the tree. Coming face to face with this tree was like being confronted with a guardian as I entered the park. I felt it was possible that it may devour me, should I transgress in any manner. The fourth tree seemed to have one “eye” obscured and was none too pleased about that, or any intrusions. The fifth tree gave me the impression it was watching with glee for some anticipated entertainment that I was unaware of. These are old trees with masses of roots everywhere, but it was tree faces that were front and centre.
