Reflexiones en tiempos de Navidad ✨ [ESP/ENG]
¿Navidad?
Reflections in times of Christmas ✨ [ESP/ENG].
¿Christmas?
I would never have imagined talking about it, from this perspective, since from a very young age I was brought up to prepare myself for these dates, since for my family it has always meant so much. Having grown up with my grandparents and belonging to a Venezuelan family where Christmas, more than a moment and a few simple dates, is a VENEZOLAN FEELING! Where the ponche crema (cream punch) and the gaitas (bagpipes) fill you with feelings wherever you go...
Bringing a little bit of illusion to all those who believed less in the magic of Christmas was and was part of our family.
Personally for my family it is that moment of giving illusions, especially to the little ones. For many years I and my family have always played Santa Claus or Baby Jesus, however you want to see it. It was a magical moment because more than making the preparations to decorate the Christmas tree and cover the corners of the house with a little paint and put some lights. We would always solve the purchase of gifts. And for that we would start buying gifts in August, which were nothing more than small details for the less fortunate. And so when it was 12 o'clock at night and the baby Jesus was born, we would fight a duel between siblings, parents and grandparents to find out who would play Santa Claus that night? It was and still is the most beautiful part of Christmas. I consider myself very lucky to have grown up under those traditions where love and fights to see who would deliver the gifts that night was the best. By the way, this year it was my older brother's turn. So our Santa was brown this year no matter how much white beard he had on. 🌟
Now, let's be sensible from these lines on ... because not everything is magic, there is something called melancholy, homesickness or as they say here in northern Spain **MORRIÑA ** Which is nothing more than the melancholy of a foreigner to be so far away from their land. And it is what happens to me that I have been more than 6 and a half years without seeing my family, and as much as social networks serve as support to shorten the distance, it is not always enough, especially at this time of the year.
Something that makes me rethink the question **Christmas?
Christmas used to be when all the kids ran to take a bath first to go out and share with their friends in the street to play before they shouted your name so you could go to dinner with the family.
And when 12 o'clock came and for some unknown reason you began to hug your loved ones while in the background a well known Venezuelan bagpipe was playing "Faltan 5 pa'las 12" and without wanting to you began to cry like a child. Those moments my dear Hive were Christmas? Today Christmas for me that I am so far away, is to look around and realize that everyone is far away from me, and because many of my loved ones are gone, and have to hide your tears so that those who know you today do not realize that you are bad. And maybe that's why every year is different and therefore the merry Christmas will not look like the one before, no matter how hard we try to keep those moments in your heart.
So if you find yourself in the company of your loved ones, enjoy them, live them and thank God for being able to have them and be close. Because I assure you that if you don't enjoy them today you will never know if next year you will be able to have them. So cry, but do it with joy, and if you are far from them do not hesitate to call them.
From a distance my dear readers, I hope that once again these little lines that I dedicate today will help more than one of you to reflect and learn to value what we have. So if you are still thinking of calling that loved one, do it and do not let more time pass. And in case they are no longer on this earthly plane, do as I do; light a small candle and play their favorite song. It is a way to thank them for everything they have given and shared for so many years.
So my Hive blessed dates, and above all a truck full of tons of health to continue living and fulfilling dreams.
