This is my first submission for the #wednesdaywalk and this one was compiled last Sunday, so not quite a Wednesday, in fact not very Wednesdayish at all ;-)

Every year with the exception of the last (due to Covid), we nip down to the city of Winchester in Hampshire. England's original capital city, once known as Venta Belgarum during Roman times and in the present day, it's the administrative centre for my home county of Hampshire. It was also the place where I was born.

It goes without saying that Winchester is a special place for us.

The market this year lacked it's usual ice-rink which for some may have been a bit of a let-down but for us it didn't matter because they were able to add a few extra stalls. More importantly, they were able to space them out better. It felt less hustle and bustle compared to previous years, which was quite nice but I do hope the stall-holders have had a good season, it has been such a rubbish 2 years.

Walking around Cathedral Close, it was great to see these old Victorian style carts. The stall-holders roasting/brewing/baking their chestnuts, Gluhwhein, Hot Chocolates, Lattes and Burros. Enticing smells, comforts satisfied.

I liked the vintage of this light but later realised it was rendered slightly ugly with it's modern security sensors etc. I've taken better shots before of another corner of the cathedral.

There once would have been a doorway here, hmmm.

All of the photos were taken on my iPhone 13, a camera I love and it's a nice alternative to my Sony.

In future posts I will talk about some of my favourite image apps, one of them is Prisma, that I used to create the last image after we returned from this walk.

I hope you enjoyed this walk, I enjoyed putting this together.

Have a great Christmas everyone!
