My brother bought me a really cool present for my recent 50th birthday. He gifted me an attachable lens for my iPhone with both a wideangle module and a macro. It's made by a company called Apexel. It's a two in one, keep the two parts together for an ultra wide-angle effect or unscrew the bottom section to reveal the macro.
You then screw this to the clip which is very strong, not at all flimsy and place it over the edge of your phone, aligning it with the normal lens. So with my iPhone 13 Pro Max, that is the lens on the right if you hold the phone vertically, back facing you. It's easy to align as the aperture in the clip is just the right size, so you can see it's in the right place.
Getting the focus is, as with any macro lens, a dark art at times, the focal area is very small, which is fabulous and I think the bokeh is pretty good, though I will test it out in other situations to see how it comes through.
I like the detail in this Rose that's now sadly past it's best. You would have thought the photo was taken with a higher spec camera. I'm impressed.
Contemplating a nice drink later. Looks nice in black and white too against our kitchen worktop.
Love the tones in this one, the brushed steel, the depth of field. It works well.
Our carpet is still in good condition and from above, looks a bit like a forest. I think this shot shows how the lens has something of a sweet spot and a very nice vignette around the edge. Works well with some subject, maybe not everything. It's a case of being precise with focus which is a case of moving around! Position the phone well and you'll get great results.
After that I went for a walk around the house lookisng for other subjects to try it on :-)
All photos have been edited slightly in Darkroom on my iPad, as I strive to go more iPad based with photography, video and music. Can I ditch Adobe and the cloud account? A topic for another post but I intend to. The cost of living is going through the roof and I could easily retain all images on hard drives - f**k it! However Darkroom is also going down the subscription route... meh!
All of the photos in this post are mine, taken with the iPhone 13 but I am happy to offer them to the #hivestockimages community and will be posting more of these.
