The Apprentice task.

I'm coming into the final two weeks of my "Blockchain for business" college course which can only mean one thing

All of the projects are due. And as khal would say, "SOON".

Some of them are tough going but the one that I have due for Friday is actually quite fun.

We have to come up with a new blockchain based business and draw up an apprentice style proposal for it. Something that show off the possibilities of the business and how it would work.

Imagine pitching a blockchain business idea to one of Alan Sugar’s evaluators in the final of the
Apprentice. What would this idea look like?
You will create a business plan using the headings below. The business plan will comprise a minimum and maximum of 3000 words. A digital badge will be issued to the project which receives the highest
grade.

Today's task is just going to be the outline for my project. Tomorrow I will draw up the full plan with details and research on how it will all fit together.

Executive Summary

My proposal is to build a new type of social media app.
An app linked to a decentralized and immutable account that you have full ownership of. Content creation is an industry that is growing in size every year and has a very valuable product. Content is worth money and my proposal is to build an app which gives that value back to the creators rather than flow up to a board of directors.

The creators will receive rewards based on the value that they add to the app. The app will be designed for writing stories. These stories can be written chapter by chapter posted to the blockchain. The content will be hosted to a permissionless blockchain and stored permanently to your account which cannot be deleted.

The app will be tokenized to provide the people that gain the most views and likes with the largest share of the income from the app.

Users will receive ten votes per day to be distributed to their favorite content. Maximum of one vote per post. Users will need to be verified to prevent abuse.

The app will be hosted on both website and mobile app versions. There will be two tokens on the site. One for consumers to reward authors and one token for authors to reward consumers.

Author tokens will be redeemable for cryptocurrency
Consumer tokens will be redeemable for marketplace items such as avatars and fan badges.

All of this will be hosted on the Hive blockchain as it is the most suitable option for social media apps. All revenue will be split 70/30 with the community receiving the majority share and the company receiving the minority share to go towards costs and development.

Do you see where I am going with this?

Yes, sneakily shilling Hive to the masses. This is a project that might be printed in the college library or even presented at a blockchain exhibition. Our lecturer is involved with a lot of blockchain groups through out the country.

Hopefully the project makes sense to you and even sounds like a good idea.

Unfortunately it is all theoretical but I do like the idea and would love to set about building it if it had the knowledge or resources to do so.

I will spend the next day putting in more research to back up my proposal and post that tomorrow.

I think that evergreen content is vital for any site showing blogs or videos. The 7 day window will be fine project blank where it's only valid info for a few days at best and wont bring in more traffic for the future.

For any site relying on ad revenue and search traffic to fund it then the content needs to be rewarded on a different metric. Either by views or another token that rewards value created rather than instant visibility. That is where the value lies for consumers and therefore that is where we need to create value for creators to make it worthwhile.

We currently have a lot of throwaway content on hive that hinders long term growth and adoption.

I think that the next wave of hive apps will need to have easy login and evergreen content to bring in real numbers. Basically hive the complicated parts of the eco-system and gradually bring in the users and then introduce wallets, keys and crypto as they go.
