I’ve always said that as an individual, being highly educated in all fields is the least you can do for yourself. Why do I say this- I speak from my own perspective. If you should meet someone like myself out there, I most likely wouldn’t be bothered about some thing but what I sure would look out for is being able to have mind stimulating conversations with you.
I’ve met so many people from all walks of life and you know one thing that keeps the conversation going? It’s the surprise on their face when they realize you know something they didn’t think people paid attention to and this alone can build you amazing relationships with great people. Read an article outside of your field every day if you can. You’d be surprised by how much you are able to contribute to conversations from then on.
In the midst of all this, I’d also like to remind you that you don’t necessarily need to know everything. You don’t need to know everything in your field, outside of your field and generally everything. It’s what makes us human. Today, I had an encounter with someone that made me think that it’s really okay to not know everything. These are the kinds of interactions that give you imposter syndrome and this alone can kill your confidence.
But hey, it’s totally okay to not know some things. If you did, you probably wouldn’t belong on this earth because there is no man on earth who knows it all. Embrace the idea of learning and feel no shame in discovering new things because it’s these things that make life beautiful.
Be open, be curious, live ,learn and grow.✨
