Just yesterday a colleague at work was telling us about why he missed one of his classes last week which I had to take over for him. From his story, he happened to be in church the night before till day break. Doing what exactly? There was a prayer session going on for a young lady who was in high school and also their church member. He went ahead to tell us about how this young lady vomited a golden ring in the course of the prayer session and confessed (the spirit that possessed her) that it was the lady’s friend that helped a guy attack her spiritually in order to get intimate with her. I just sat there in shock. Someone she called her friend did this to her.
What even led to this discussion was the fact that he said he observed that most of our female students wore rings and he asked me what I thought about it. I told him it might just be fashion but I personally wasn’t interested in those stuff. He instantly told meme that I was wrong and that there were reasons ( spiritual) behind the rings some of these ladies wore.I honestly thought all these things just happened in Nigerian movies not know they happened right under our noses.
Friendship is a very good thing, no doubt about that but the problem comes in when we come to the issue of who your friend is. Most of the people we call our friends wouldn’t call us their friends if they found themselves in a different room. There’s a huge difference between a friend and an acquaintance and most people tend to mix these two up.
Being an extrovert, I know how it can be to have so many people around you. Naturally, I’m a people person and people seem to always want to talk to me even when they don’t know me. I wouldn’t lie, it’s really exhausting because I’ve grown to enjoy my own company and with all the terrible experiences I’ve had with people, I’m just not that invested in making new friends.
Making friends is as easy as drinking water to me. I’m always excited about building my network which is solely because I’m a curious person and I like to learn more from others. Before I call someone my friend, then we have to have had some deep level of connection and even getting to that stage would take years.😂 Someone I call my friend means a lot to me and I don’t even joke with these people in my life because I know their worth and impact in my life.
At my age, having many friends isn’t something I’m even bothered about because that’s possibly going to even make my life more complicated. I just hate drama in my life so , the two to three friends I have now would probably be the same ones I would have when I’m 50.😅
I’d like to end with a quote from John C. Maxwell - "It is not the number of friends you have, but the quality of the friends you have that matters."
