And the funny part of all this is that, every topic has a very huge number of people sharing their views and having banters. And the best part is, there’s no limit to what trends in Ghana. It can be about football, food or even the minutest thing you can think about. We always have something trending and you’d be surprised with how everyone has time to add their take even though we all claim to be busy.
I’m not even going to lie, I’ve been extremely busy over the part week that I don’t even use social media unless it is necessary. As someone who always watched TikTok and movies, I can’t remember the last time I had some free time to do these things. Last night, I was working late and decided to go see what was going on in Ghana on TikTok and I didn’t believe what i saw. During the day, a friend of my who is a huge twitter fan showed me a video of a woman with bloody clothes and all and asked me why a woman will stay in a marriage she was being abused in. We had a discussion and moved on.
Little did I know that was the trending news in Ghana. Apparently, a fashion icon who was known worldwide had been living in an abusive home for so many years. This lady is married with two kids and with the videos I saw, it showed the ma physically abusing her together with her daughter.
News is that the man claims the children are not his and that’s why he has been hitting the lady and the reason he beat his own daughter was because she entered his sacred room and took money which belonged to his gods. People of God, if I had heard this story from anywhere, I would have said it was a lie. I was so shocked and angry at the same time because why on earth will a men’s lay lands on a woman and to add to that someone he calls his wife. And his own kids!
This issue has sparked a lot do discussions in the Ghanaian media space but what I know is that, I won’t even stay a second more with a man who eve makes as much as an attempt to lay had on me. If he can think about doing it, he will do it and if he does it once, it will be a habit. Marriage is no longer glorified in this generation of ours. Don’t get me wrong, marriage is a good thing. But why waste and risk your life for a marriage which can make you worse than you came.
Divorce isn’t the end of the world and honestly, people will always talk regardless. Forget about what people will say about whatever you do. Just do what is best for you at the end of the day because I might as well be single than be married to a man who has made it his life’s goal to kill me.
