I have been reflecting a lot lately, especially since the incident (or accident) that led to the injury I sustained almost two weeks ago.

There are things that happen to someone that make the person realise that we do take so many things for granted in this life. In my own case, slipping and falling and hurting my arm is one of such things.

This post is not intended to focus on the pain and agony part of the experience, even though it cannot be excluded, but rather the little things that are so often overlooked.

As a wife and a mother, I have always had this sense of responsibility towards my family, and that meant having a lot to do to make sure everyone is comfortable. Not that the other members don't have what they contribute. No, far from it.

It is just that this time, I am receiving more attention from everyone. There are things I could easily do before that now requires some help from another person.
Trying to get up from a chair now, someone else has to support me to be able to lift myself up from the chair.

No, there's no fracture. But from the wrist of my right arm to the elbow, there is still pain. So, I desist from anything that will stress the hand and cause more pain.

Last night, I wanted to make pasta for dinner. My twelve year old was the one putting the pot on fire, lifting it to strain the pasta in a colander, and helping to stir and mix with the sauce. Who do you think made the dinner? 🤣🤣🤣. And he is so happy that he gets more opportunities to cook now, lol 😆.

Now, I am appreciating the fact that I don't have to do everything by myself, and also that no one can really be self-sufficient. I am also learning to relax and not allow myself to get frustrated because of my situation. The things I am able to do, I do. The things that would stress me now, I leave for when I get better. Life goes on, right.

The much I can do with my hands, I do. Like typing this post, I just gently tap away with my fingers and when my wrist complains, I rest for a while and then continue.

In all, I am grateful that my life didn't go with the fall. I am grateful for all the kindness that I have received. I am grateful for the opportunity to see life in a new light and recognise how important the people God has placed around me are. I am grateful to see the sunrise and the sunset each day, and I am more determined to make an impact in someone's life each day.

If you are able to lift a teacup by yourself, enjoy and be grateful. If you are able to get up from a chair all by yourself, enjoy and be grateful. When you go out and come in safe and sound, be grateful. Take nothing for granted, rather give thanks for all things and for everyone around you.

I know my healing will soon be perfected, and I will regain the full use of my hand as if nothing ever happened. For now however, I am enjoying the care I receive from my loved ones while trying not to feel guilty 🤦‍♀️😊. Just a little more time and everything will be fine.

Thank you for reading my post. I have shared my thoughts, and I will love to hear from you in the comments section.

All is well, may it continue to be well with us all. Enjoy your weekend.
