I want to share a very funny experience that happened in my house this morning.
In my house, there are certain mistakes you dare not let my dad know about because he will unleash his bad mouth on you but if you're willing to have a bad day then go ahead and let him know. These mistakes include losing or forgetting your ATM card, forgetting your PIN, misplacing your money, preparing a salty meal, forgetting to perform a chore, or mistakenly transferring money to the wrong account.
My dad is a firm believer that as an educated person, you ought to be smart at all times, hence the reason we affectionately call him a perfectionist.
So, this morning, he was involved in some business transactions and accidentally sent 7 thousand naira each to two different wrong account numbers. We didn't realize what was happening until he started frantically calling one of my in-laws. Curious, I asked what was going on, and he revealed that he mistakenly sent 7 thousand naira to my in-law and also 7 thousand naira to a friend of his, and both numbers were unreachable.
I couldn't contain my laughter, witnessing the perfectionist making the same mistake not once but twice. He caught on to my amusement and started defending himself, claiming it was a network issue. His defense only amused me more, and he couldn't help but join in the laughter.
When my mom came out and saw us laughing, she wanted to know what was so funny. I narrated the whole incident to her and my big brother, and they joined in laughing. Mom even made it worse by imitating the words he would have said to any of us assuming we were the ones who made the mistakes. She mimicked how he scolds my siblings and me. This escalated the situation, and I found myself sitting on the floor, laughing like a moron. We laughed for two reasons: first, the mistake was made by the perfectionist, and second, he could recover the money.
So, dear friends, this was the funny experience we had at home this morning before leaving for work.
