Twitter's Growing Fear Over Russian- Backed Propaganda
I recently received a text from Twitter with concerns about my Twitter account and my following a "Russian government-linked organization known as the Internet Research Agency."
Dear Crystal,
As part of our recent work to understand Russian-linked activities on Twitter during the 2016 U.S. presidential election, we identified and suspended a number of accounts that were potentially connected to a propaganda effort by a Russian government-linked organization known as the Internet Research Agency.
Consistent with our commitment to transparency, we are emailing you because we have reason to believe that you either followed one of these accounts or retweeted or liked content from these accounts during the election period. This is purely for your own information purposes, and is not related to a security concern for your account.
We are sharing this information so that you can learn more about these accounts and the nature of the Russian propaganda effort. You can see examples of content from these suspended accounts on our blog if you're interested.
People look to Twitter for useful, timely, and appropriate information. We are taking active steps to stop malicious accounts and Tweets from spreading, and we are determined to keep ahead of the tactics of bad actors. For example, in recent months we have developed new techniques to identify accounts manipulating our platform, have improved our process for challenging suspicious accounts, and have introduced new measures designed to identify and take action on coordinated malicious activity. In 2018, we are building on these improvements. Our blog also contains more information about these efforts.
People come to Twitter to see what's happening in the world. We are committed to making it the best place to do that and to being transparent with the people who use and trust our platform.
With all of the recent hoopla over Russia's so called interference in the presidential election which turned out to be nonexistent and regulations on sites such as RT, I'm not surprised to see Twitter following suit with the fear mongering mainstream media pundits.
Russia is the least of my fears, and I actually like the country and have a personal affection for Putin, I admire his steadfastness and strength of character. My biggest worry (if you can honestly call it a "worry", the term "concern" would be more appropriate, is sites such as Twitter going after independent media, and individuals such as Julian Assange, denying that they actively engage in shadow banning accounts and then Project Veritas verifying that this is actively happening and has been for years.) is the fear mongering being stipulated by Twitter.
The Cold War days are over as far as I am concerned. I have never been negatively affected by Russia or any Russian agents and I don't think I have any reason to fear "Russian propaganda."
Instead how about examining the surveillance state that has been ongoing in America and how the 9/11 event was constructed in order to push even more surveillance in the domestic front, how mainstream media props up false flag events and hoaxes such as Sandy Hook , or how about looking into how the U.S. helped to create and fund ISIS?
Nope, I won't receive any response on those issues instead I receive an email about some supposed Russian boogeyman that more than likely doesn't exist just like the Russian collusion delusion didn't!
Twitter is a platform that I only use to follow those who I have no connection with outside of that platform, other than that I have no use for the site. I spend more of my time on Steemit and many people are boycotting usage of Twitter because of activity such as shadow banning of Assange and Press For Truth. Twitter falls into the same category as CNN for me and a host of others who are a part of the independent alternative media - basically useless, mainstream garbage.
Here's a great summary from Styxhexenhammer that sums up my sentiments regarding Twitter -
Twitter has another think coming if they truly believe I'm one of the mindless sheep that follows the mainstream narrative!
Now, I'm forwarding this post straight to Twitter by sharing it on their platform.
