The only photo I have of my first car, a 1976 Toyota Celica. I do not real think I had much idea of what I wanted when I got this car. I had been working since I hit the legal age. From memory it was 14 at the time in Victoria. So I had been working part time and saving for the sole purpose of getting a car and freedom.

I got it before even having my licence and had to take my cousin with me to pick it up. She said I would love it because it drove like a sports car, I think I liked it more because it looked fast. It was good, it got me around but it had limitations being a small coupe.

Most of my friends were getting what ever car was available from a friends or family I was lucky enough to be able to choose but I was struggling to known what I actually wanted. It was not long before I sold it and got a big HX Holden panel van the total opposite of the Celica.

The Panel Van did not last long either before I sold it and got my dads old Toyota Corona station wagon which was probably the uncoolest of the 3 but I kept it for longer as it was much more practical with four seats and still a bit of room to carry stuff.

I thing I would apricate the old Celica now more if I could get one, rather than when I actually had it.

A diecast model of my first car might be a good memento but this one was the hatch back model, mine was more rounded down at the back with a small boot.
