Winter must be over as this is the second time in a couple of days I have seen my friend the blue tongue lizard. He or she has not been out for months. I'm not sure whether it's the recent rain or just the slight increase in daytime temperatures, but he or she was in the middle of the lawn yesterday. I was not quick enough to get any photos.
But today, I was loading the bin with some garden waste for our regular weekly council pickup when out of the rubbish pile popped Mr Blue tongue. It scared the shit out of me as I thought it was a snake but I quickly realised there was no treat and grabbed my phone out of my pocket for a photo and a short video to see if I could capture the lightning fast blue tongue.
The video was not that good, but I was able to screenshot the only frame with its blue tongue out.
