I so wanted to be back on track with the needlework on Monday… and now…. Ahhhhhh________ (insert multiple swear words) Today has thrown me back, but I will not give this Monday up without a fight (I am melodramatic, don’t fear… and if you want to skip the drama and only want the minuscule needlework part, hop to the photos at the bottom of the post)
Back to my Monday: today I was at an advanced training course. I had planned this for a longer time now as the topic is extremely important for my work field: prevention of sexualised violence against children. Because this is a very intense topic which can be emotional exhausting, I thought I will only write a short update on my gathered skirt in the evening. But the day did not go as planned. Firstly, I forget to check my calendar and so I was pleasantly surprised (beware irony) by a heavy migraine in the morning. Hello hormones. I so wanted to participate on this course that I did not listened to my body, but instead used pain medication and went ahead. Up to midday it was bearable but after this I wanted to screw my head of. Sigh. And then I looked at my phone and ahhhhh_______ (please insert swear words again) I had a message from my mother that she was robbed. Thankfully she is well, but all her money, cards and so on were stolen and the police was not very helpful nor friendly. So, back home I was occupied by calling hotlines and authorities.
Now I am tired, my head a bit better, but I am not creative enough to write a nice text about my newest project (yes, I may have started something new 😂) Therefore, I present you only an informal update. I will crochet a raglan sweater.
And I will not use my preferred top-down technique, noooo I will challenge myself and will crochet it flat. My idea was to emulate the Sew House Seven Toaster Sweater I meanwhile have sewn perhaps 5 times…. I will try to crochet the four parts of the sewing pattern, sew them together and then add waistband and cuffs.
For the sweater I tried out three different crochet stitches from a new book I absolutely love. It’s Dora Ohrenstein‘s Crochet every way stitch dictionary The book not only shows (for me) new wonderful stitch variations it also delivers how to in- or decrease all of these stitches. So helpful in my view. I got caught by the pattern ‚falling leaves‘ which has a beautiful texture and shows a closed stitch pattern which I like in my garments.
And if you wonder if I have an excuse for starting yet another new project… Yes, I have one 😂😂😂
All my other projects are already too big to put them conveniently into a bag and knit or crochet discretely during a course. As you see, my excuse is excellent, my progress on this project however is non-existent as I did not had time to pull it out of my bag 😱
My dear needleworkers please cross your fingers that my mother will get her documents back very fast and that she will recover even faster.
