As if maturity ever came with age? It seemed inevitable, just as inevitable it would be for the sun to implode, that someday the lessons from mistakes committed in the past would outshine the mistakes themselves. It has been never easy to live with consequences. The complications were always quadrupled, and the mistakes have turned into haunting ghastly ghosts that just like the sun come and go everyday.

Nay, this isn't maturity. This is living. Maturity would be possessing the mental aptitude to always being aware of the surrounding, the mood, the consequences and having the willingness to deftly react upon it while being mindful of the circumstances that envelop the scenario. It is much more complicated than simply reflecting on the past. That is called being human.

Part of being human is to learn from mistakes. But more often than not aren't we always trying to avoid the next mistake, and dodge everything that would force us into reliving one from the past? It takes a lot of determination to bypass the proxy of a mistake and tear it down like a carcass and study it. It takes a lot of strength to pull out the bandages, ruin the healing, let the mistake bleed and heal it from the inside.

These aren't mistakes that you now and then. I am talking of mistakes that have had an incredible effect on the timeline. A mistake that diverges the path of time towards the goal of perfection. A mistake that plunges into the ether and brings out what we call "curveballs" of life. A mistake that brings life into "when life gives you lemons". Something that has forever changed your timeline.

Things like these happen to all of us. Let me ask you, if you look back in time what would you change? Of course there are plenty of answers to this question. You could also land on an absolute answer. The one thing that would redefine your life. Yes, you may be thinking of that very event. I am!
But the takeaway is that what happened has happened, and we have very little to do with what has become part of history. Now it is time to find the strength to revisit it everyday, every possible moment. Let this redefining mistake become the beacon to a better future. Even if it is too bad to ever come in play in your life, take the lessons to the next gens.
