I will tell you a little story about a metaphor about human relationships, you are free to interpret it as you please.
A long time ago, in the middle ages, there was a very prosperous kingdom ruled by a very lonely king. The legitimate heir to a dynasty, he had all the fame, power and money he could wish for, but he had no friends, no queen, no family.
A terrible disease took the life of his parents when he was just a prince, he never was good at socializing, he hardly ever left the castle and had no need to do so, his home had all the comforts that could be asked for. But as time went by, those luxuries became banal, the treasures lost their value when the king became aware of his loneliness.
All his life he had been empty and comfortable in his castle, in captivity, he felt isolated and unsatisfied, as if something was missing, something he understood after reaching maturity.
The king was interested in the commoners of his kingdom, from his distance, he was curious about their humble lives full of coexistence and harmony. But he did not understand them...
But the passage of time had taken its toll and there was no way to make up for lost time.
Deep inside he knew it very well, he even longed for it with desperation: he needed to know the experience of interacting with other people, so he came up with a good idea. Organize a party in his castle, a celebration in which the whole kingdom was invited. That event would be the opportunity to bond with someone else and leave the monotony of home behind.
But the special occasion did not happen as he expected...
The castle was filled as soon as the sun went down, that gala night, being surrounded by so many different people, the king felt very uncomfortable and strange, out of place in his own party and not fitting in anywhere. People from all walks of life were walking around his domain doing as they pleased, it disturbed him?
The king was not in the mood to speak to anyone, but he was hiding it. After opening the doors of his castle to so many people, he was overwhelmed by the lack of control.
The commoners showed no respect, understanding or humility for the king's property, they unleashed a disaster inside the castle.... Such overwhelming disregard that the ruler was not willing to accept anyone.
He terminated the party by running everyone out of his home.
The king locked himself in his castle after being disappointed by the vile nature of the people. He lost all his interest and confidence, he no longer wanted to see anyone... trapped in his loneliness, he fell into a great depression and no one ever saw him again.
Years went by, and the last that was known of the king was that one day he died silently in the confines of his castle...
No heirs, no company... All he left behind were his riches and his belongings.
Without a leader to obey, the servants along with the commoners looted every last coin from the castle, leaving nothing to remind them of the kind of man their lonely king was...
