So yesterday being 1st October was Nigeria's independence day celebration, a day Nigeria gained her Independence from the British who were their colonial masters.Come with me as i take us back memory lane on Nigeria's history.
BRIEF HISTORY OF NIGERIA
Nigeria’s history begins with early civilizations like the Nok culture and great kingdoms such as Oyo, Benin, and Kanem-Bornu. Europeans arrived in the 15th century, and the trans-Atlantic slave trade dominated for centuries. By the 1800s, Britain took control, and in 1914 it merged the north and south to form Nigeria.
Nigeria gained independence in 1960, becoming a republic in 1963. Soon after, military coups and the Civil War (1967–1970) shook the nation. Decades of military rule followed until 1999, when democracy returned. Today, Nigeria is Africa’s most populous nation, rich in culture, oil, and talent, though still facing challenges of corruption, insecurity, and ethnic tension.
Nigeria as we know is famous for tourist attractions and I would like to mention but a few:
With all these Nigeria has grown from being an undeveloped country to a now developing country in the world. In the movie industry Nigeria is ranked the 2nd following after the Bollywood and producing about over 2000 movies a year becoming the largest in Africa.
In the music industry it is ranked the 6th most exporting music in a country into top ranks and is also well known for oil production.
Happy 65th Independence Day to Nigeria.
