"Wake up Alex, you need to eat something."
My eyes slowly opens as I watch Aurora bring what looks like the last of our food supply to me. Funny how things quickly took an unexpected turn.
One moment, we were on our honeymoon, sailing across Europe, having the time of our lives, the next, we're lost at sea with limited amount of food and water to drink. Aurora tried to make contact with anybody who could help us but the radio and some parts of the boat were blown off in the storm. I fear it's only a matter of days till we run out of drinkable water.
There's no sight of land. We have been lost for over 8 days if I am counting correctly. I am scared more for her than myself. I was seriously injured during the storm and can barely walk. Aurora has had to do almost everything. I fear, this time, none of us will make it out alive.
"I want to write a letter to our daughter Aurora, I want her to know I love her"
"Sure thing, just say the words and I'll write"
Of all the beautiful things I have seen in this world, none of them compares to you my darling. I want you to know that I love you, I always will. I wish I could be here with you when you read this but I have to go someplace, I'll watch over you, don't give mommy a hard time. I'll always be with you my little flower.
"When you make it out of here, give this to our baby"
"You give to her when we see her, just hold on Alex"
I can feel myself slipping away, our food is all gone. For the first time in my life, I have no hope. It hurts. It's another cold night, Aurora lifts my head up as she tries to cuddle me under the blanket. The feeling is warm, almost makes me forget where we are. She kisses me on my forehead as my eyes slowly closes into the night.
"Wake up Alex, wake up!!!!!!!"
"Hold on, don't do this to me"
I can hear her voice, it sounds like a distant echo. I can only hear it, I can't see her.
"A ship Alex, a ship!!!"
I hear her scream at the top of her voice. She's trying to signal the ship. I open my eyes slowly. I see her jumping, waving her hands in the air, calling for help but it is dark, I'm not sure they see her.
I'm not sure what happened. My eyes close as a I hear the ship horn.
"He's alive, quick men, grab the ropes"
I feel like I'm being pulled up. I open my eyes and I see men running in different directions, trying to get me aboard the ship.
"Aurora!, there's someone else on the boat, Aurora!"
"There's nobody else on the boat, my men have searched, you were the only one on board"
"It can't be, I was just with her, check again"
There's a puzzled look on his face, he pulls out his phone and shows me a picture.
"Is this Aurora?"
"Yes, where is she?, is she okay?"
His puzzled face changes,
"She's dead, she washed up ashore 5 days ago with a picture of you in her hand"
"We've been searching for the wreckage for 5 days now, the search lead us to you".
