The Beatles changed the mentality of a whole generation. Ringo Starr, despite his detractors, is a great musician and drummer, and since 1989 he has formed a supergroup called Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band, which to date has thirteen incarnations. All of its members have been top of the line, and were (and still are) part of such important groups as : Santana, Journey, Eagles, The E Street Band, Supertramp, The Band, Utopias, The Guess Who, Grand Funk Railroad, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, The Who, Humble Pie, Procul Harum, Cream, Free, Bad Company, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Men at Work, Ace, Squeeze, Mike and The Mechanics, Bad English, The Romantics, Average White Band, Toto, among many other groups.
These musicians perform songs from the bands that made them famous, and in turn accompany Ringo Starr in his solo songs or in some songs popularized by The Beatles.
Ringo Starr has invited artists such as Stevie Nicks, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Tyler, Bonnie Raitt, Paul McCartney and Slash to play and sing on stage.
I think Ringo Starr knows something about music.
Here are three examples of how exceptional and prodigious this band is:
Broken Wings is one of my wife's favorite original songs by Mr. Mister is about a relationship in which two lovers grow apart and try to figure out how to save their relationship. Broken wings can be healed and used to fly again and to undertake with patience and tolerance a relationship that was thought to be lost. The song is from 1985.
Frankenstein is a catchy tune, an instrumental song in which Edgard Winter does his thing and shows his abilities as a multi-instrumentalist, it really is a monster of a song and I have heard about 10 versions of it, in which Winter's ability to improvise is palpable. It is an original song by the Edgard Winter Group and is from 1972.
Pick up the Pieces is an optimistic song, which encourages listeners to pick up the pieces and start over. It is a message of hope and positivity. This song is an original from the group Average White Band and is from 1974.Here this piece is mixed with Down Under by Men at Work and a Ringo Starr track.
These are the musicians participating in the second and third video:
Warren Ham (vocalist, saxophonist and flutist who has participated in the groups Toto and Kansas), Edgar Winter (renowned albino multi-instrumentalist musician creator of the Edgard Winter Group in the 70's here on keyboards, saxophone, drums and vocals), Steve Lukather (an acclaimed guitarist session musician and the only original current member of the group Toto), Hamish Stuart (guitarist, bassist and vocalist of the average White Man), Colin Hay (guitarist and singer of the Australian band Men at Work) and Gregg Bissonett (drummer, session musician who has played in David Lee Roth's band, and in the band Toto). Note that in the second video Starr does not participate, leaving Greg Bissonette on drums.
In the first video the musicians are Gregg Rolie (former member of Santana and founder of the group Journey on organ, keyboards and voice), Todd Rundgren (visionary soloist multi-instrumentalist musician and lead music producer of the group Utopia here participating in percussion and vocals), Richard Page (singer for the group Mr. Mister on bass) and Mark Rivera (a multi-instrumentalist who has worked with Billy Joel and Foreigner, this time he plays percussion and keyboards). Together with them Gregg Bissonette on drums with Ringo Starr, and Steve Lukather on guitar.
