This time next week, I am hoping i'll be back in Thailand but if I struggled with the paperwork and procedures to get back to the UK, the return to Thailand is far worse due to the rules changing after I'd left.
Extra insurance bought, one week locked in a quarantine hotel reserved and paid for. A very expensive one way flight. Eighty quid RT-PCR tests all booked and a Certificate of Entry applied for.
Now it will be a week of cheek-nipping anxiety until I get the C of E through email and pass the Covid test here AND the first Covid test when I arrive back in Thailand next Friday. If I do fail the first RT-PCR test when I return, I'll be taken from the hotel, with no refund, and sent to a hospital or hospitel for isolation...at my cost, well, the insurance company's as I paid for asymptomatic cover.
Travelling to the far-east is still an awful long way from being a viable proposition and I miss those days when all you needed to do was book a ticket, grab your passport and bugger off, not to mention the bargain £500 return flight as opposed to the £1400 I spent on this trip!
