It had been almost a year since I'd taken the old Sony SLR out for a spin, and after some rather disappointing results, had perhaps taken my bat and ball home a little. However, a planned trip down to Nathorn sea front at sunset had me reaching for the old brick, and with auto mode and .jpg being the only settings I needed, hit the sand. Seriously, how could anyone go wrong with one of nature's finest displays?
For me, any simple pleasure has the ability to become a major source of stress and grief and so it transpired, I couldn't find the wire to connect the camera to the computer and had to remove the huge, old style SD card. Then I couldn't find a card reader before remembering an old Lenovo in the bottom of the wardrobe that had a reader but hadnt been turned on for years. You see how it goes? Anyway, three hours later and the photos were on my laptop.
I think this camera will go back in its box, never to see the light of day again. Its not the camera's fault, I know, but I really just can't be bothered learning a new skill when using even my cheapo Samsung phone will produce photographs that I am more often than not, extremely happy with.
Having said all that. If any members of this esteemed community do have suggestions to settings that may have made these photos better, please let me know and I will give it another go.
Finally, one I took with aforementioned Samsung A34! Much better, obviously more processed by the phone but who cares if its a nicer photo?
If nothing else, this little exercise has certainly given me a renewed respect to the art of a professional photographer!
