나홍진 감독의 한국 SF 영화 ‘호프’가 9월 10일 개막하는 제51회 토론토국제영화제 미드나이트 매드니스 부문에 초청됐다. 이 부문은 강렬한 발상과 영상미를 갖춘 장르 영화를 소개한다. 황정민, 조인성, 정호연이 출연하며, 외딴 해안 마을 호포의 경찰과 주민들이 정체불명의 강력한 존재를 마주한 뒤 벌어지는 사건을 그린다. 올해 칸영화제에서 첫선을 보이고 7월 한국에서 개봉했으며, 북미 개봉일은 9월 9일이다.
Na Hong jin’s Korean sci fi film Hope has joined the Midnight Madness lineup at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, opening Sept. 10. Starring Hwang Jung min, Zo In sung and Jung Ho yeon, it follows a coastal community confronting mysterious beings. After premiering at Cannes and opening in Korea in July, the film reaches North American theaters Sept. 9.
