What I do know is that the best remedy to warm up the body is to walk and that is what I have done today since I had breakfast. We walked from the Hotel Crucero Aurora, where we are staying, to Enramada. Then we walked down that important street to the Imperial Hotel and sat for a while in the Chess Park in front of it to cool our feet, those were hot, 🤭😄.
The santiagueros are very kind, good hosts, and it doesn't matter if it's cold, because with their way of greeting and laughing, they warm the coldest heart.
Tonight, at 12:00 midnight, the raising of the flag will take place here, an event that has been held every year since 1900.
In Céspedes Park, the most important square in the city, they are getting everything ready for this moment and I have come from Havana to cover this and other activities for the magazine I work for.
According to tradition, depending on how the flag waves after it is hoisted, so will be the year for Cubans in general. So I hope that today our patriotic symbol unfurls and flies with the gentle caress of the wind.
