Not long ago a friend asked me how long it had been since I last looked at a chart. I replied that it had been months (I’ve lost count) because ever since we were kicked out of Coinex I haven’t done any trading. I almost lost the little money I had there. Thankfully, I managed to withdraw it using a VPN. Just imagine waking up one morning with your coffee, opening the app and being greeted with a message saying you’re blocked, that you’re in a country (Cuba) forbidden from using that exchange. Your nervous system just collapses completely.

But the main reason I no longer trade isn’t really that. There will be other exchanges, other brokers, other opportunities for us — the unlucky ones, the outcasts… oh my God, and I wasn’t even born here… (that’s another story, I won’t digress). What I was saying is that my biggest problems are the power cuts and the lack of connection. Here nobody explains anything (another reason to shatter your nerves) because apparently we have no rights. For months now they’ve also been cutting the ADSL connection in the afternoon, before nightfall, and only restoring it at 9 am the next day. Other places don’t suffer that bad luck. It happened to me and to those of us living in Marianao municipality, or maybe it’s only in this neighbourhood, Puente Nuevo. Unofficial sources say the plant has no energy backup and that’s precisely why they cut the service during blackouts. But I wonder… every single day at the same time? Without exception? This is insane. I’m sure we’re under a social experiment. Talking about it would take several long posts… so better leave it for another time.

This video, for example, was about 2 GB. I wanted to upload it in high resolution but ended up compressing it, and yesterday when the connection was cut I couldn’t upload it at all. The highest resolution I managed to upload was 1080p HD. So I refrained from uploading it to 3Speak and did it through YouTube, which has the advantage that even if the upload is interrupted due to lack of connectivity, the progress doesn’t restart. It just stays there waiting, and we can resume once the connection is restored.

I’m fed up, you know? Fed up with being resilient about everything, with living like this, pushing the stone uphill, and when I feel I’ve made a bit of progress everything comes crashing down again. That’s why you see me smiling and riding my bike. It’s the only way I’ve found to survive all this.

Well, that’s it… not every smile hides complete happiness. Sometimes those smiles are dangerous, you know? I ask the Universe for strength and patience…

This video shows the full ride from the bridge at 100 and Boyeros to Ciudad Deportiva, unaltered in speed, no filters, no corrections. That’s how my little AKASO BRAVE 4 camera films. Tomorrow, if I manage to upload the other part of the video (five minutes long), I’ll write a bit more about my days.

A hug to you for reading me. I know complaining isn’t good… that’s why sometimes I just want to forget everything and ride my bike. Go far, breathe, and lose myself in that fantasy world that keeps me going.
