I checked the weather forecast this morning and saw a prediction that stated a whopping 90% chance of rain here in Yerevan for much of the day. I got excited! I haven't really experienced a true rainfall here in Armenia yet, and the colder weather is slowly rolling in. Though the daytime is still a bit too sunny and bright for my liking. I had the intentions of running around outside with my cameras and capturing the vibrancy of the city under a coating of rain. Seeing how the atmosphere here shifts as the colours are increased, reflections visible from the puddles, and how the general life changes into a slower pace as people run off indoors and avoid walking around outside. Though, aside from the odd droplet here and there, it did not really rain at all during the day.
I was pretty disappointed. I had my film camera loaded with Colorplus 200, almost finished. The digital camera ready to capture anything both in stills and video at any moment. With no rain coming, I didn't really know what to do with myself. I walked around an art shop, I completely ignored all fashion shops, and I aimlessly roamed the busy streets in search of something to do. I got a little bored having made the plans to capture the city under rain, excited by it all. I love rain, I love the atmosphere down to the feeling of it. And with cameras, I was only more excited. Instead, I just walked. I took a few pictures here and there. I tried to challenge myself but the motivation was gone. Still looking to the sky every so often to see if some clouds were forming above. None really did.
Still, it's fun to discover new places and run around taking pictures. I shot a few on the film camera, and only took out the digital camera once the sun had already set. Even now as I type this, I hope the rain comes back. I'm waiting on my gimbal to arrive from England to be able to do videography things, sort of in limbo as I await any tracking news on it. Until then, I'm sort of avoiding being too creative or going to specific parts of the city. Yet I still see the inspirational compositions around. The challenges and potential movements. The lighting and the life to capture. But God, please, just let me shoot rainy Yerevan until then!
