Hello everyone, I hope you're all well 😊 Today I'm going to tell you about my São João night 😊
I want to tell you about the traditions of São João here in Porto
We started by decorating the houses with ribbons, São João balls and hats.
Then my father lit the embers to roast the sardines. I've been helping him put the sardines in, turning them over and taking them out.
We bought a large rotisserie because as my family is big it is easier and faster
Then we put the plates, glasses, napkins in it. A very simple table
My favorite thing at São João is the roasted pepper. It's the best thing in the world. If I could I would eat this every day
Here in Porto it is also customary to eat bread. Do you also have this type of bread where you live?
My aunt also made a very good sangria. I love my aunt's sangria. I only like the sangria made by her
Everyone praised the sardines and I immediately said that it was because I helped my father if they weren't that good 🤣
We also roasted strips of pork ribs, but not enough because we roasted too many sardines and everyone had a full stomach.
In the end I ate a great green broth. My favorite soup 😊
And finally I ate a slice of watermelon
And of course you can't miss the basil. Here you cannot miss the manjericos and all of them with very nice courts.
The square says the following:
By san antonio to see
For São João I went to talk to you
In São Pedro I convinced you
Missing a saint to leave you
At the end of the night I went to Vila do Conde to see the fireworks on the river. So beautiful this firework.
The pictures when it's night are not very good taken with my cell phone, but I really wanted to show you
And of course what I like most about São João night is the hammer blows. Here in Porto everyone has a hammer, it's tradition here in Porto. Where do you live also use this tradition?
I hope you enjoyed it, see you soon friends 😊
