Yesterday I received my Schengen Visa which means I can now travel on Sunday to my favorite place Switzerland. It was too close and I was wondering if my Visa would arrive on time or not. Last year at the same time, when I had planned to travel, I had applied for a Visa 3 weeks before my travel and it had not arrived on time. It was such a jinx; it arrived the same day of my travel that I had planned and I had to put off the plan. This time I applied a month in advance and finally it has come on time. I was not sure if it would come on time, since there is a mad rush right now at the consulates for Schengen visas.
Anyways now that the main work is done, the next steps are to book the hotel and finalize on my itinerary. It is a work and pleasure trip. 1 day of work followed with 4 days of holiday. This time my plan is to visit Zermatt. 2 days will be in Geneva and then from there we move to Zermatt, and stay there for 3 nights and then 1 day in Zurich and fly back to Muscat. My plan is to visit the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. Since I have seen most of the places in Geneva, I am planning to make a day trip to Lausanne and Lavaux district from Geneva. It's at an hour's distance. I have read that the vineyards of Lavaux district are incredibly beautiful and there are very cute villages based there. During my last travel in Sept, I had covered Montreux and Vevey in the same region and both these places were amazing. Lake Geneva stretches out to all these places, so there are gorgeous views on this whole stretch. The best way to travel Swiss for any tourist is to buy a Swiss pass. It covers almost all the travels in the Country by Train, Bus, Cable car, Ferry and also gives 50% discount on the Mountain excursions.

I can surely become a Swiss tour guide for Indians who want to visit Switzerland....hehe. Honestly, I can show them many such places which are not very commercial and are true hidden gems of this place. I have got lost here, and explored my way out and that's how managed to really see some of the most hidden gems of this Country. This is going to be my 11th visit to the Country. I am thinking may be the last one.
At the beginning of the year, I had decided that I am not going to do any major travels this year since I want to save up money for my new home which is being built up. But then this official trip came up for hubby from his office and he suggested that I should accompany him. Next week we have Eid holidays, it was ideal to club it up with the work travel and take a break. Some of the cost will be taken care by the company, so it would not be very heavy on my pocket and will be kind of a subsidized and economical holiday. Moreover, it's my favorite place and I cannot deny if hubby has invited me.
I am super excited and looking forward to my travels, exploring the parts of Swiss which I have not touched before.
