It was just 09:05 this morning and I was suddenly on my own...
No Little Man to be responsible for, no work and I was mobile in the car. You must know (if you are human) what was going through my mind:
"How far away is the Golden Arches??
Do I feel like some?
Am I really hungry?
Should I?"
The steering wheel and the car guided me towards the closest MacDonald's - where they only have breakfasts at that hour of the day. I don't even like the breakfasts that much - yet I am drawn towards the drive through like coins to a magnet.
After consuming part of a sausage and egg McMuffin I turf the rest - I didn't even really like it. Then start to wonder:
"What is it about 'Take Away' food that makes it sooo desired, but then taste so awful??"
I shouldn't pick on MacDonalds - they do lovely fries that my Little Man is very partial to (when he is allowed to have them) and the Chicken burger is ok. But the coke is watered down and I can't face their burgers anymore. I used to be an addict once. I lived on at least 1 Big Mac meal deal a day. That was many years ago and I managed to kick the habit. Just like an ex-alcoholic on the bandwagon with her booze or a smoker once he quits - you just don't want to go back or the sight/taste/smell of it...
So the Little Man and I will have healthy sandwiches for lunch. I acknowledge that MacDonalds (and the others like HJs or KFC) are present and at times are useful - they can serve a purpose. Still, you won't find me sneaking out at 23:30 to get a Big Mac meal deal with extra large fries and a Sundae. Thankfully, those days are well and truly over... :)
