It is not a vegan restaurant, but of course, as you select the ingredients yourself, you can eat vegan which is what I like about it. I usually go there once every couple of months with one of my good friends who introduced me to Jins.
I am very happy that he did as I really love it and it is a great place that we visit to catch up over a decent lunch. The food is generally pretty spicey and perfect for those cold and rainy days like we had today.
My friend drove us there and we couldn't find somewhere so easily to park outside as there was some roadworks ongoing and it's pretty tough driving around the town at the moment generally. However, we went to our usual parking spot and took the 5 minute walk there.
When we arrived there, I asked my friend to take this photo. He said that I am the typical Brit who was always prepared with an umbrella. 😀 Luckily it was just cold and rainy and not windy, which made things still quite nice to go out.
Once we went in, it was quite busy which is a good sign, but the restaurant owner greeted us kindly and presented us some seats. Then we went to get our bowls and select what food we would like.
I didn't take such a good photo here, but I filled the bowl pretty well as I was hungry and got 2 x vegetable noodles as I love noodles. I am not sure what vegetable the purple ones were made of, maybe beetroot? I am trying to avoid gluten, so this was great that they had such a wide choice of noodles. They also had rice ones too.
I grabbed many of the different lettuces, plenty of brocolli and mushrooms too. There were many exotic things to choose from and I tried a few things that I didn't last time.
Once you have filled your bowl, you take it to the counter and they weigh it and you say what flavor that you want. I chose tomatic, slightly spicey. Usually it is anyway pretty spicey.
I grabbed a fanta and my friend a coke to go with our meals.
In the end, all the ingredients were whipped up and out came a nice bowl of delicious food. I added some garlic, coriander and other spices to the top and also a generous helping of roasted onions like they have at Ikea.
The atmosphere in Jinns is really great. It is very relaxed and has that local eatery feel to it. The prices are also pretty reasonable for the fresh ingredients used and is also dependent on how much you take. I took quite a large bowl today, but usually you have a smaller one.
I can say the food was really delicious and was perfect for that cold autumny time. When you have some good company and good food, it makes for a great lunch time out.
Thanks for reading.
