The cosmos flowers are in full bloom and as such have attracted the attention of multitudes of butterflies and bees! In this post I've selected a few of the butterflies that chanced to find themselves in front of my camera.
Above is a Silver-washed fritillary (Argynnis paphia) taking a drink of sweet nectar from a blossom.
Cosmos blooms through summer and autumn and is an important food source for many insects. It's also very nice to look at itself.
This is a Small Banded Swift (Pelopidas mathias) a rather stout butterfly and somewhat drab. Still a good pollinator and has a fabulous fur coat!
Oops, not a butterfly but this brilliantly coloured beetle, somekind of chafer or june beetle relative, is really getting a snoutful! It must love flowers quite a bit!
