Good morning everyone. How are you? I am fine. No more rain today. It's a wonderful sunny morning. The sky spotlessly clean and navy blue. Birds are chirping and singing. Gentle breeze is blowing. The small river named " Torki nodi " is flowing smoothly.
It is not the main stream. It's a branch of the river Arial Kha. Once the river was very big and mighty. There was strong current on the river. Boat men were afraid of crossing the river during the rainy season. The river became hungry and cruel. It seemed that the river will devour every thing. It's cruel murmuring sound could be heard from a long distance. But those days have gone.
After the construction of "Farrakka" dam one of the main river of Bangladesh the mighty river Padma become emaciated and weak. All her branches are dying. Some of them are no longer river. They have turned into canals which totally dry up during summer. Farmers don't get water for irrigation. They can't grow paddy and other crops easily. They have to sink deep tubewell for irrigation which is very costly. On the other hand during rainy season when it rains heavily they I mean India opens the gates of the dam which occurs flood in our country. As a result lots of crops are damaged. It brings disaster for our country.
Now a days sail boat has totally disappeared due to advancement of technology. People need not row any longer or set sail. Most of the boats small or big have engine to drive them.
