The word technology is interesting in itself. It's inevitable to think of computers when trying to come up with photo concepts to depict technology. Computers, smartphones, internet, satellites, robots. What we can achieve today with hand-held equipment is outstanding and unimaginable a couple of decades ago; there are endless uses. Are those good examples of technology though?
Technology comes from Greek, meaning "systematic treatment of an art, craft, or technique." The dictionary defines technology as "the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes." These are great definitions, but I often think that modern technology is so vast and dependent on other complex factors that it might mislead us into thinking we can deal with its intricacies. We can't. That reflection made me agree with a Brazilian sailor that defines technology as "the art of making the most of what we have available."
What does that have to do with this post?
