Longish walk, buying Kaya, reminiscing Singapore, plus My Actifit Report Card: November 17 2019
Today we walked in to town to get lunch, buy a couple of frying pans to replace the very old well-worn ones we had and to buy Kaya - a popular Singaporean spread that we first discovered on our travels last year.
Me in Singapore last year after enjoying some Kaya toast at ‘Toast box’
Last year we stopped off in Singapore for a few days en route to Europe and our Airbnb host recommended a local cafe that served the classic Singapore breakfast of eggs (2 very soft-boiled eggs served in a bowl mixed with a bit of soy sauce and chilli sauce), Kaya (a sweet pandan jam) toast and black coffee (or tea if that’s your preference). I loved this breakfast and I loved visiting Singapore. On the way home from this trip we bought some Kaya to take home which we quickly consumed.
Today we went to a popular Asian grocer in Chinatown which has a wide selection of Kaya to stock up. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post - I may have pictures of my home-made classic Singaporean breakfast.
The Kaya selection
The annoying news is that my cold has not stayed away. It has developed and I’ll be resting up at home tomorrow (hence will be able to do the breakfast).
