SMOKE SCREENS
My father once told me
When you say something over and over again
It loses meaning
So for many times he gave advice
Not once did he give one twice
For he knew a word was enough for the wise
I was wise
And to one advice I listened twice!
Now let my words put your minds on reverse
As I drive you back to high school
Where multiple episodes of the cane
Toughened our skin and numbed the pain
And there in our dictionary
The cane lost its meaning
I suppose it because the cane spoke over and over again
till we went deaf to its admonition
The federal ministry of Health warns
That smokers are liable to die young
The federal ministry of Health warns
That smokers are liable to die young
The federal ministry of Health warns
That smokers are liable to die young
You hear this on the radio everyday
Enough of the sermon you say
Who gets out of life alive anyway
We’ll all die someday
Someday something must kill a man!
you don’t need a gym to get 6 packs
the street side shop steadily supplies six packs
of sticks
so you stick sticky fingers into the packs of sticks
sticking out six sticks in six seconds
sticking six sticks between lips
six sticks smoked in sixty seconds
Steadily soaking yourself in smoke screens
So you don’t see red signs
On your road to self destruction
You’re bound in chains like a slave to addiction
And like an undertaker, you bury yourself in pollution
I tell you to seek solution
You tell me of chemistry and how Alcohol is a solution
So you puff and gulp
From bottles and cups
Till your lungs, longing for oxygen for so long
Go on a journey of no return
