There is no sense, no possible reason
that an omniscient presence would be
unable to see dirt shoveled over the young
by the hands that raised the body being buried
If there is some being
omnipresent and all seeing and protecting,
then this it's greatest cruelty,
watching a parent lay their child to rest
with nary a hug, a touch, a hand, a reason
on which to hold
to breathe, to help them see why
the thing they loved the most is taken away
