When my girlfriend and I decided to go on a trip to India, we didn’t do much research, just embarked on a whim, and picked the hottest season there to visit. People warned us that we would be going there at the wrong time and we would literally fry, but the first few days blessed us with a lovely rain and several days of cool weather. However, the day we went to see the magnificent Amer Fort in Jaipur, not to miss the famous Sun Gate (Suraj Pol), we met an unrelenting heatwave, which made my girlfriend feel really, really bad.
Personally,
I have never been a fan of bad weather, but I somehow forgot how awful the temperature could be in Jaipur, when you get lost admiring the beauty of the place and taking pictures.
For this picture, I just stood in the middle of the structure and took a 360 picture to make the panorama, but it was noon by the time I had done this, so I doubt the quality of it because the sunlight was by no means soft or beautiful, it was hard and almost merciless, beating down on the structure. You don’t have much of a choice when you are on an organized tour, you have to take what little time you have to do what you can, but if only you could take pictures at golden hour!
Amer Fort (Amber Fort) is a majestic palace-fortress made of pale yellow and pink sandstone, located on a hill above the Maota Lake in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The Sun Gate (Suraj Pol) is one of the main gates offering panoramic views of the fort and was built to watch over the sunrise that pours golden light on to the Sandstone Palace.
