Addiction is one of the most important things to talk about, because in one way or another almost everyone is addicted to one thing or the other. The fact is no one is free from this disease. I will call it that because it has affected a lot of people, almost everyone in the world.

Recently I was so mad at my sisters; in fact, sometimes I blame too much on innovation in technology because, honestly, it has done a lot of harm to good people. My sisters are so addicted to their phones to the extent that if they are sleeping, they will press it and sleep off even when they wake up in the morning. The first thing they always think of is their phone.

So many times they have pressed their phone and forgotten food on fire, and we have to eat it like that. The one that I dislike the most is when they are supposed to be reading and the next thing you see them doing is pressing their phone.

Imagine someone is having exams and all they do is be on the phone all day and all night without reading anything. Addiction is so real that you won't know you are already into it.

The real question is, is addiction a choice? To my own opinion, I will say addiction is not a choice because most of the time, you will not even know you are addicted to something until it's too late. Addiction begins with something personal that you wish to do and you enjoy doing; the more you do, the more you enjoy it. For instance, someone that is addicted to social media. I have some friends that can go all day on social media, and they will not even remember they are yet to eat or even take their bath.

Meanwhile, these addictions take away so many things from us. You can get addicted to so many things: social media, your phone, smoking, sex, masturbation, stealing, drinking, and so on. At first people just want to explore, and before you know it, they are already doing it.

To stop addiction is very hard; I could remember the day I seized my sister's phone for just an hour. That period that I seized it, everything was happening to her at the same time. It's funny, the kind of addiction that can be because she didn't even get herself for some time till I gave her back her phone.

Many things are to be put in place to stop addiction because your brain has already been programmed into what you do, and if you do not give it what it wants, you will not be yourself until you satisfy it.

I've seen someone interviewed; he was a drug addict, and he injected himself till his leg started decaying. People around him complained, but he didn't have the ability to stop because of the few minutes of enjoyment he saw inside it.

In summary I will say that it's not really someone's choice not to quit, so many people has tried but they failed, and there are lots to put in place to stop it, it's not just something an individual can decide to stop if it's a chronic addiction , then you need rehabilitation program, medical attentions, decipline and so
