No doubt that everything we do now is on the Internet, everyone wants to be social, and that's because of the era we are in now. People follow what's trending. Unlike before, when there was nothing like social media, they followed what was trending back then, but now what we have is social media, and it's so addictive.
Everyone on social media wants to be an influencer; I mean, everyone wants to trend, and they want to use any kind of way to trend on social media. The real question is why are they doing that? Social media is a place where a lot of information has been passed from one place to the other; people can get fame overnight on social media and also be forgotten. I mean, you can literally go from zero followers to thousands or millions of followers in just twenty-four hours.
Imagine someone with zero followers going to millions of followers; this gives them power and boosts their courage. People call them celebrities because of the fame they have gotten. Meanwhile, this can also bring a lot of deals for them; someone that has a lot of followers will definitely get deals and will be getting paid. Money especially is one of the things that brings people to social media, and everyone wants to trend so bad.
That brings us to today's question: are people who are famous on social media who talk about a particular topic and someone who is an expert in it? Who are you to be followed? Well, I will not dispute the fact that social media is powerful and is useful. But because someone has a massive follower doesn't mean I should listen to their advice. One thing we should all know is that people talk about what is trending; either they know it or they don't. People give advice about health talk, and they are not even doctors. Or even study anything about health in school. Or even have a certificate of it.
There is some information you should not rely on on social media because even those that are talking about it don't know anything about it, and a lot of information on social media is wrong; people just talk to stay relevant on social media.
Imagine someone giving me advice about my health on social media, and I ignore someone that is an expert in that field. My point is an expert in a particular field is different from someone who just has millions of followers due to one thing or the other and makes them famous; someone that doesn't have a certificate and someone that has a certificate are definitely different.
Just me that knows about sports is talking about surgery on social media. Obviously I don't have certificates on the medical line, but I can read about it and know it; that doesn't mean I'm an expert in that field. And this has confused a lot of people that take advice from influencers instead of them consulting the people that are on the line and are well certified.
In summary, just because someone is famous doesn't make them an expert. If something is wrong with you, then go and meet an expert in that field not a random influencer that just wants to trend online
