Elk Mountain, WY
From an autumn trip in 2017. We pulled off at a rest stop for a spell to "wait out" a little wind (70+ mph gusts). I walked over to the snow fences across from the rest area to make this photo.

Wait, what?
It's October already. How did that happen? I guess the way it always did. Anyway. Here's a photo from back in January at Pattison near Olympia, WA. Settings: ISO 320, f/8, 1/125 s.

Then and now...
The last time I've been on HWY 12 (at least, in Washington state), was back in the summer of 2013. I made this photo returning from an expedition in eastern Washington. This photo is from roughly the same

White Pass
From our trip back east via HWY 12. I'm torn. It's a lovely drive, but makes for a long goodbye to the great Northwest. If I could repeat again, I'd take I-90/HWY 12 west, and I-84/80 east. The later is

Mt. Sentinel
Just south and over the Interstate from Mt. Jumbo. I made this photo from our hotel room in Missoula, MT. Those lines on the ridge are shorelines from Glacial Lake Missoula. At its peak, it's estimated

We ache for what is lost...
Looking west/northwest from the side of Mt. Jumbo. I'm still trying to figure out this fellow's name. I seem to recall hearing once that he's a volcanic peak, but haven't confirmed that yet. Settings:

Another one-line title, and another photo from our trek on Mt. Jumbo. This was the former shoreline of Glacial Lake Missoula. Settings: ISO 100, f/11, 1/250 s.

Mt. Jumbo
From a little jaunt we took up on Mt. Jumbo, outside Missoula, MT. Second time we've made the trek, and once again, we didn't make the summit. A little sad for me, but it ain't easy dragging 9 people with

A long goodbye
Back on the 90. It was a fun little trek on HWY 12. Made this photo outside Ellensburg, WA. One last wave to Old Tahoma. Settings: ISO 200, f/11, 1/1000 s.

Looking west over Bend, OR. A fairly serious rain storm (odd for that time of year I think) came through earlier that day, and broke up late in the afternoon. Settings: ISO 400, f/7.1, 1/100 s.
