I just got back from the farm this afternoon and decided to couple up my dress that has long been wasting away in the wardrope because of several challenges I have with wearing the dress.
At first when I made the wear for myself I have used candle gum to do some embellishments that later removed and left several stains on my dress
All of these candle gum stains on my dress have stayed stuck and unable to remove.
It is so obvious that the dress can't wear be worn outside the house like this. I have thought about several ideas to conceal this until I later came up with this.
I bought some pearls to use as embellishments that can conceal the affected part. For this I had to use needle and thread to tack each of the pearls on different portions of the dress that was stained with candle gum.
This is a good idea for anyone that has an outfit with a defect on it, this kind of embellishments will make it look beautiful as well as conceal the damage.
I also purchases some ready made petals to complement the pearls as I didn't have much time in this busy farming period to design ready made petals of my own.
Next I dress was too tight at the knee length and not comfortable to wear. Instead of wearing this and walking with so much discomfort I decided to add some Godget pleats at the back side.
I took the dress, measured out my desired length and cut it out. This i then unstitched and attached it to the back of the dress.
Rather than have a slit at the back I pleated the neatly prepared godjet to the back of the fabric.
This is how to create the pleats
Sewing it and closing the hemming, the dress became shorter in length but it was really comfortable to wear with the extra pleats at the zipper seamline .the dress is so pretty, comfortable and ver much useful now.
