A happy weekend to us all. We are grateful for the gift of life and the privilege to see yet another weekend. Part of our gratitude to God is for his mercies over our lives that even in our unfaithfulness God is still very much faithful. He hasn't been too wicked to withhold the rains from us. In due season the skies has blessed us this week with the very first downpour for the year.
During the middays of this week we had a heavy downpour which has now signified the commencement of the raining seasons. It was one of friendly yet heavy downpour and the first of it's kind for this year.
Just before the rains I had lamented about how the weather has gone so high, hot and unbearable, it was as if God heard those silent lamentations and sent down the rain.
After a long period of hotness the weather was became calm with that singular rain.
You can see how even the okro in the field felt relieved by the downpour that was such a blessing. These okro is another types of vegetables we grow during gardening farming seasons like this. It is used for preparing our local soup in different ways. Varieties of vegetables specie exist in the part of the world which people often used for making soup.
Okro can be grown at anytime of the year both during the dry season or the raining seasons. Planting this at this time of the year means that the okro will continue to grow and be harvested even when the rains commences fully. By then we wouldn't be using machines and pipes to irrigate the crops.
Most crops enjoy and prefer the rains. The rain water is usually very much cooler compared to the water from irrigation but that doesn't mean that irrigation hasn't been useful for our farming activities. We have got some quality okro specie here and after cultivating the land and planting the seeds a good portion of the okro germinated and covered the fields. The Okro has germinated and it's doing quite well so far.
