A very beautiful new morning to us all, I hope that we had a wonderful night right and are feeling strong, hale and hearty. I had caught a flu and had a bit of a challenge sleeping well, my nose was running all through the night and at a point it got blocked by mucus such that I couldn't breath well. I had to stay up a bit and also take some ginger tea go assist in clearing my throat.
Flu's and some cold are very common illness of we often come down with whenever we begin rice farming work especially when it is transplanting times when we plant rice in the swamp. The water is often cold and regardless of whether we wear boots or not the weather is very cold and with continuous daily exposure we often come down with this flu. Ginger, garlic and some of these natural berbal products are very helpful at this time.
One of my daily routine is to feed on the farm animals, the turkeys and chickens daily before heading out to the farm each morning and sometimes when it is too dark at dawn to achieve that I leave the task to someone else. Alot of people are begining to admire how our farm animals are enlarging and have been asking questions about how they can equally get started with raising farm animals.
I can say that my own journey and experience regarding this wasn't a smooth one at first but now I'm happy with regards to the results.
We have ourshases some turkey and rabbits earlier on which weren't productive at all. The two rabbits later died leaving no offspring while we killed and eat the turkey during the Easter seasons in the month of April when it wasn't hatching her eggs. The turkey will lay a good number of eggs and refuse to hatch them.
For growth and expansion one needs quality specie of with crops or animals to start with. We discharged the turkey we had and then purchases a better breed of a day old turkey.
They were sold at about $10 at the time.
A day old turkey is one that has just hatched from the egg like the ones I have here. A single one of the above can be sold for $10 since farmers know how profitable they can become when they grow up.
If you manage to keep these ones alive, it takes only about 7months for them to grow and start laying eggs.
Above was the mother that we had bought that took just about 8months to give us those poults above.
We had purchase two of these thesame day and even though one has layed eggs the other is still preparing herself to start laying eggs.
Simple cages were built here to shelter them from the rains and we have turkey feeds that is often feed to the poults when they are still very small. We had bought a quantity of 2kg of the ready made feed and it has been in use for about two weeks now since they were hatched.
If we are fortunate enough to keep all the 5 hatched poults alive and equally get some more poults from the second bird that is yet to produce, we may end up starting the year with just two turkey poults and end up with a number close to 10turkey birds before the year runs out.
Adequate feeding, care, watchfulness and good breed of birds can cause so much growth and multiplication among farm animals within a year.
After a first attempt and some losses I can now confidently share with us the process of how to get started with raising farm animals and making a profitable business out of this in a long run.
