A beautiful High low skirt I made for my friend, Cutting and sewing process
Hello Creative DIY community.
Hello Hive
Hope the day is treating us well and we are making progress with today's activities. My besty came around to check on me yesterday evening after I was done with the day's activities and trying to relax. I was feeling a bit down because of the economic situation and some deadlines fast catching up with me. Her company cheered up my mood but I was more concerned about not being able to serve her anything
She came home hungry, and I didn't have any food or snacks to entertain her with. Being someone that is very selective with meals, I couldn't make her any of the staples I had at home. She would have preferred some expensive snacks or rich noodles and salad 馃馃, just the way I used to spoil her with such kinds of
delicacies.
I felt bad not being able to entertain her well, and our conversation was very short, as she had to run for food since she was coming to my place right after work.
I promised to make it up to her and gift her something while hoping that the next time she comes around, I will be ready with some delicacies and the gift.
I got this fabric as one of the leftover fabric's I had once used to sew a choir uniform for her. Having used the uniform in church, they had some extra fabric left, and since I have heard her whisper about how she needed a plain black skirt and another patterned skirt for corporate dressing to church, I decided to sew her this office-like (official) dress.
I took the fabric and cut out the front and back blocks here.
Next, I took it to the machine and joined the seam line of both the front and back blocks along the hop line, closing the zipper allowance.
Measuring the lower hem of the skirt where I will be attaching the flair
Then I took this larger part of the fabric here, folded it into 2 and then into 4 against
After which I then cut out a flare of 10" using the measurements from the hem of the skirt.
This is now what I had attached to the lower part of the dress, hoping to create a high-low effect after cutting it some 2".
The zipper was fixed last, and our beautiful flower skirt can match any fabric color. My friend will be so surprised to see me in her house to both deliver the dress and to apologize for making her endure some hunger.
You should equally know that since this is a stretchy fabric there is no need gonattkm What do you think about our skirt?
