I have been listening to a lot of Zig Ziglar these days and I stumbled upon a court by him which I thought is probable one of the most underrated. He says that among the things you can give and still keep are a smile, a complement and a good heart.
Why do I think it an underrated statement?
I think so because no one smiles these days and anything that is rare is valuable. If we think think about our own workplaces, how many people walk in with frowns on their faces. No one says good morning, no one is excited and no one cares, so how important does a smile become. I guess we all know the answer now.
The second component of this puzzle is complimenting people for what they are. Telling them what we appreciate about them, I can’t emphasize enough how much people care about us if we care about them. The point is we don’t have to fake it but genuine and honest appreciation of someone else’s contribution to our life will make them want to do that more for us. Complements are one of the most extraordinary components of social life. If given right they create so much positive energy that they make things happen almost as if by magic. They ease the atmosphere around two people and kindly dispose people to each other.
The third and probably the most important part is that having a good heart is integral to one’s progress in life. I can’t say with certainty how we can tell that we have a good heart, but if we think about others and how our decisions will affect them we have a good heart. Having a good heart leads to us doing good deeds for others which leads to them helping us in turn.
So guys, practice these principles and see the positive difference in your life as well.
