I visited the dentist today. Not the most inspiring thing to do with one's life but necessary.
While waiting to see the dentist I walked outside on the street to have a look at the peaceful town.
Of all the points of interest in the town the church pictured above stood out like a sore thumb demanding that I photograph it.
I could have taken another angle like this one below.
Suddenly the church doesn't look as impressive with the house in the foreground?
Or in this angle below. The church is even less impressive. It's now just part of the street scene?
In this photograph below it's just another building on a street corner at the end of a small town.
The point I'm hamfistedly trying to make here is about freedom.
As photographers we are free to choose what we want to photograph.
Of course there are 'rules' about composition, object and subject but these are subjective and are often better in the breaking than in the keeping.
Currently there is a real battleground for freedom going on and the first casualty of war is truth.
This is not a left wing or right wing issue. It is far more important than petty politics, point scoring or trying to convince you.
However the conflict is portrayed to the public we have to address the facts as we know them.
Using our own brain to overcome the propaganda machines from both sides.
Hence the choice of photos above?What images are being shown to the world?
Irefutable fact.
Russia invaded Ukraine.
There is no excuse for this aggression although there are plenty flying around.
The rules of engagement for NATO suggest that it cannot intervene in this conflict.
So:-
What about the United nations?
Why aren't they being deployed?
Sometimes rules are meant to be broken.
