This was a rare visitor to my front lawn; I had to take a bit of time to identify this one. I believe it is a purple finch, and I have seen them twice here, both times in the spring. It wasn't there for very long and I was lucky to have my telephoto lens already attached. It flew briefly up to a branch after hoping around, then landed again and took a brief little walk to graze the grass before flying off out of sight.
