I see that this fly is covered in pollen, and it made me ask the question, do flies have a role in pollination? The answer is yes, but not an intentional one. They will travel from flower to flower to feed on pollen and nectar but are not necessarily collecting it for other purposes. Because of their feeding behavior, the fly will become coated in pollen, which also moves along with the fly in their travels, and it will spread to other flowers. It is not as efficient as the more deliberate pollinators, but it does help the process.
