Quiero hacerte algunas preguntas...
THE MOON. Majestic in its splendor, stable and immovable, innocent and generous, shining before the darkness of the sky. Worthy of trust. Her beautiful light makes the world shine.
You must be like the moon. Those are the last words I remember of my mother after her innocent death in a tenacious revolt; of my father I remember almost nothing, only that one day he left never to return.
Locked up in the four walls of an orphanage room, the days grow longer. Sadness and bad thoughts are always in me. I reproach myself so much for not having done anything to save my mother, if only I had been older to be able to think as I think now, maybe and only maybe I would have acted differently.
My age is increasing; I have seen children come and go to the orphanage; they all arrive crying and scared, but they leave happy to be adopted, who is going to want to adopt me? my age has passed and all parents prefer to have younger children.
The teachers at the orphanage try to be good to me, they always give me food and make an effort to teach me to read and write. But what good is all this, if my life has no meaning, no purpose. Negative thoughts always come back to me, to pull me back.
I'm still trying to interpret my mother's words, "You must be like the moon!" what did she mean? How can I imitate the moon? Perhaps knowing her meaning can be a ray of hope for my life.
Every day, as night falls, I wake up watching the moon, trying to understand its existence and its light. I have devised different plans in my dreams to go visit her, so far I am sticking with the three best ones:
First plan: in the courtyard of the orphanage I will build a giant staircase, the longest in the world. I will make that ladder reach her so I can climb up and ask her what it means to be like you? She will answer me and then I will know all the answers to my questions. And with the ladder I'll be able to climb every night when I feel lonely, rung by rung.
Second plan: I will ride a bird, a strong one that flies above the clouds, to fly me to the moon, so I will get there faster, but I will have to hold on with all my strength so I don't fall. I'll be able to ask her how she doesn't feel sad when she's so lonely. And when I get the answer I will be happier.
Third plan: I will throw a rope with all my strength and with it I will hold the moon, so I can pull the rope with all my strength and make her come to visit me, yes, that's what I will do! Although I might feel like I'm forcing her, what if she doesn't want to come?
The good thing is that I have an optional plan in case none of my other plans work, I will become an astronaut, my teacher told me that astronauts are the only ones who can go to the moon, I know it will work!
Nothing better than spending all night looking at the moon and thinking of a thousand options, for some reason I feel that she understands me despite all my crazy and irrational ideas.
Last night something amazing happened to me, I still think it was a dream. Regardless of whether it was reality or just my imagination, that event changed my life. I was attentively looking at the moon from the window when suddenly:
Wait a minute! What's that? Why is it falling down? The moon was descending from the sky at great speed, it looked like it had fallen and I was seeing it with my own eyes. I saw a light in the backyard of the orphanage and ran with all my might to meet it.
I approached carefully and my eyes could not believe what they were seeing, it was the moon! From the excitement I almost forgot that it fell into a pool of water.
What are you doing here, I asked him. And he said: I came to meet you, but I didn't calculate the distance and jumped in a hurry, I should have thought of a plan first!
I got a big laugh out of her answer, me coming up with a thousand plans to meet her and she couldn't come up with any. However, I was still surprised that she came down for me, so I asked her, to meet me?
And she answered: yes, you, didn't you want to meet me, yes, of course I answered quickly. I want to ask you some questions...
And so I spent the whole night talking to the moon, the sky was all dark but my companion was shining very brightly. I still can't quite believe it. But that visit was special. I knew that after that long conversation nothing would be the same.
How to be like the Moon? - "The secret is in shining".
The moon does not have to be accompanied to be happy, it always looks for ways to share its light with others without expecting anything in return. When dark clouds try to hide her, she shines even brighter to be able to overcome adversity.
Although she is perfect, she is also discouraged. At times the stars try to dim her light and sadness makes her shine, but she recovers her courage and her brightness grows again until she feels full.
Only people who dedicate time to her can appreciate her beauty, and although many assume her presence, she knows how much she will be missed the day she is gone. She recognizes how valuable she is, no matter that others do not tell her so.
Yet, the moon does not boast of her light, she knows that the sun is superior to her and does not try to be the best. She does her job and adorns a beautiful night so that everyone knows she was there.
Before saying goodbye, the moon told me a phrase that I will keep in my heart "Find your own light!", that was what my mother wanted to tell me! Those words tucked my heart and lit a ray of light in my heart.
THE MOON. Majestic in its splendor, stable and immovable, innocent and generous, shining against the darkness of the sky. Worthy of trust. Her beautiful light makes the world shine.
That's what I want to be!
